About the Author
Dr. Ilana Slaff-Galatan is a sister of identical twin brothers with autism and the mother of a child with autism. She is also a board certified psychiatrist who completed an autism research fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Dr. Slaff assisted editing the chapter “Complementary and Alternative Therapies for Autism” in the Clinical Treatment Manual for Autism (2007) and has been published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and the Psych Congress Network.
Dr. Slaff -Galatan has given continuing medical education lectures internationally on autism diagnosis and management and has also lectured to families. She has experience in consulting and supervising functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans. Dr. Slaff-Galaltan has presented at numerous public hearings, including before the FDA. She has also spoken on New York’s Capitol Pressroom radio show and appeared on Your News Now Capital Tonight for New York.
